Rainbows with all 1/1s

I could have sworn there was a thread on this a number of months ago, but I'm having no luck digging it up. Has anyone been able to put such a set together, including each 1/1 (printing plates and whatever else)?

I'm close on a few sets, but never really expected to do it: until yesterday, that is, when I was putting my recent pickups in order to scan and realized that I finished 2014 Bowman for Jonny Gomes. 21 cards in total, 7 of which are 1/1s. A huge thanks is due to [MENTION=2995]mudflap02[/MENTION] for this; not only did Jeff hit a cheap BIN on the red 1/1 and then immediately offer it to me, he later sent me a heads up when he saw the magenta plate listed with a BIN. That plate was the one that finished off the set.

Fun fact: The blue is 1/500, the gold 1/50, and the purple ice 1/10.


Anyone else completed or close?

Except for the Donruss Challenge set, I've never gotten more than 2 of any one plate.

You always come with very hard challenges Luc. I have a couple of Bowman and Bowman Chromes with the 1/1s but not all plates. My only one would be this Cantu:

Wow, those are some great cards posted. I really like those patches [MENTION=3300]vwnut13[/MENTION] and that cut auto [MENTION=1758]Ty Hope[/MENTION]. [MENTION=2441]r2d2[/MENTION], that's an amazing set of printing plates; of all the sets to have a set of plates from, I'm not sure you can top that one. Does Cantu not have a non-plate 1/1 in that set?

Oops Just confirmed that there is one (Platinum). It appears my brain tried to fool me into thinking I got the full rainbow because I got the four plates.

I think that for 2 guys who obsessively collect the same player (when nobody else seems to even notice him), I think you and I have this thing figured out. Can you imagine if we battled it out over every nice Gomes card that came up? All 2 of them a year?

One of these days we need to draw a line in the sand and publicly declare that the bidders' collusion is over. Maybe that will shake the last 2 or 3 of them out of the tree.

Amazing efforts gents! I don't see how anyone can take on such a ructions without starting with the Super and other 1/1s. Once you miss one of those, it's all over.

I tried to to get the Allen and Ginter Kevin Van Dam (bass fisherman) rainbow a few years ago. I think I still need the wood and one of the plates. What's worse is that they're all missing, I misplaced them at some point...
