Hughes is so done he'd probably lose to Renzo.

Royce don't do it! Just retire! Or atleast fight someone else who's collecting Social Security.

Hughes isnt done.

He lasted 3 rounds with a younger Matt Serra after coming off surgery

Hughes has at least the fights left in his contract in him.

Could he beat GSP? No, but, I think he could be a contendert

Hughes has hit the wall. The same one that Wanderlei Silva & Chuck Liddell have hit.

Saying he went three rounds with a 'younger' (1 year younger... wow) Matt Serra adds credence to my point. Serra is a mid-level fighter at the very best and he put Matt to the test. Renzo, who Matt would have decimated in the past, actually has a shot at beating him.

I'm not saying he isnt past his prime, but

His last 3 losses have been to GSP and Alves

It had been 2 years undefeated before he lost to GSP

Yes, lost 3 of his last 5,

but,

8 and 3 his last 11....so those 3 losses are a bit deceiving considering theyre both to the #1 ranked welterweight GSP, and (debatably) #2-3 ranked welterweight in Alves

Once again, do I think Matt could beat Alves, GSP...no, but, I think he could get a contenders spot against one of them

I had the same attitude with Royce against Hughes, always a fan and will always root for these guys. The problem is they aren't going to get any better. Hughes, Silva, Ortiz, Shamrock, Royce,Chuck, are all past their prime.

Just because they're past their prime they should just go away and not compete in the sport they love and given their lives to?
