Right after Seaver passed away, we were thinking that Gibson was close behind due to his health...

Seaver, Brock and now Gibson. Sad year for the Hall of Famers dying.

Probably the meanest, toughest SOB to ever pitch.

I remember McCarver, his best Catcher, talking about Gibby hitting him on purpose in a intra-squad game.

But man, helluva pitcher. RIP...

One of the nicest in person autographs I ever met.

I got a chance to get a Bob Gibson IP autograph at the 2001 AS Fan Fest in Seattle. I was w/o my cards unfortunately (they were in storage at the time), so just got a modern GOTG card signed that someone in line graciously gave to me! Still a cool experience, although I would have had a vintage card signed if possible. I didn't have his RC, but a nice 61 would have been cool.

isn't it great that we have this special hobby of collecting their cards? this is how we contribute to helping to keep their legacy alive.

Had the wonderful opportunity to meet him a few years back at the National. Nothing but class! He will be missed.
