Sorry to see that and it's always a shame when the trip results in loss or damage.
If that is exactly how you sent the message and we are seeing what they saw, then I could easily see how the seller might feel like you were "coming in hot". Sometimes it pays to be blunt, sometimes it doesn't. Tone is often lost in written correspondence, but I can sense something negative with how you wrote this. Exclamation at the end, all caps on the you and telling them what the PO "should" have done, which they have no control over.
Something more like this may not have put them on the defensive right away...
I received my package today. Unfortunately the post office did a number on it and the card is lost. I'll need to file for a refund through ebay of course, but it's my understanding that the seller can still try to file the insurance claim with the original packaging. I can ship it to you if you would like me to.
I was going to say "I think I found the culprit" and then post a pic of Splinter from Ninja Turtles (since the bottom looked nibbled by a rat). . . .which really wouldn't make sense now! It's a shame you deleted your original post. But the real shame is that I didn't quote it in a reply. I'll do better next time. That way, your un-self-aware, delusional ramblings can be preserved for future generations.
