So some Scumbag is trying to Con me via paypal, anyone help me out? UPDATE

Hey guys, some **REDACTED****REDACTED****REDACTED****REDACTED**ing ********* is trying to con me out of 150 dollars on paypal.

He bought a best buy giftcard from me on ebay. He then asked for me to message him the card code because he needed it to purchase something right away. I agreed and he said he got it and he left feedback.

Well right now i go on paypal and see I have **REDACTED****REDACTED****REDACTED****REDACTED**ing -125 dollars. He filed a "Unauthorized claim" where it says,
The buyer has filed a claim stating this transaction was made without the account holder’s knowledge or consent. Please click Resolve Claim Now to view your options to resolve this issue and how to provide relevant information will help in PayPal’s investigation. We must receive your response by 7 calendar days from case creation in order to include your input in our investigation.

He is clearly trying to con me because he already used up the card's code and the money from the GC is gone. I'm freaking out, because I don't have 150 dollars to spend cause some ********* is trying to screw me.

What can I do? Right now I'm sending a note to Paypal.

ugh FML!

I would call Paypal first. Explain to them what happened. I hope you saved the emails. Those should help you win the case. Clearly the dude is trying to pull a fast one on you.

H this sucks and sorry to hear this. I was wondering why anyone even sells a gift card in eBay since they can they got the gift card and it had nothing on it.
And I would never send them the code every.

This is the first time anything like this has ever happened to me. :(
I log into paypal went to resolution center, clicked on the claim he put on then added a note explaining what happened. I added a PDF of the ebay messages he sent me along with the positive feedback he left.

Can they be called 24/7?

Kind of your bad on this one. You should never directly send someone a code from a gift card on eBay. Probably safest thing to do was not sell on eBay in the first place as eBay will always side with the seller it seems nowadays. If you kept the code and have messages back and forth from you and the seller then you should be fine as long as you did not delete them.

Hopefully it all works out for you and this punk doesn't screw you out of more money.

Not sure. Can't hurt to try and call now. Worst case senario, you get a automated message, and you call them first thing tomorrow.

I'm sorry to tell you this, but there is nothing you can do to win the case. Your best situation would be to find out the information to his local police department and report him for Internet fraud. I don't know how many times I have said this on a public message board that it is this stupid idea to send codes over the Internet.

If this guy was saying he never got the card, that's one thing (that you may have been screwed about).

But he's claiming that someone used his account without his knowledge to buy the gift card. Since apparently all the communication transpired through ebay, there may be hope.
IP address logging (that ebay likely uses) may be your savior in this case.

I was thinking last night, The guy could really be telling the true, that he did not buy this item actually. And this was why someone asked for the code and right away. Someone could have hacked his account and he just figured it out.

Interesting thing here. The winner is from Australia and has bought many other Best Buy gift cards. and he has bought 7 since the sale from H

H's feedback shows the buy buys user name is abcrc2009
http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISA...sspagename=VIP:feedback&ftab=FeedbackAsSeller
And the buyers feedback shows he has bought many other best buy gifts cards.

Maybe you should contact one or all of them he has bought from after you and see if this is a pattern of him and he is now defrauding others.

Possible, but that then means the person hacked both the Ebay AND Paypal accounts?? To hack one, sure. To hack both, I guess it's possible, but I'd vote highly unlikely. I'd agree in contacting some of the other sellers if possible and see if it's been a similar issue, and even bring up to Paypal that he's buying other BB gift cards, so why is this one all of a sudden not a legit purchase?

All you need to do is ship him the used gift card with delivery confirmation. Then you will be covered as far as delivery confirmation. If the persons account was hacked you will not lose your money. If it was not hacked then you have your delivery confirmation.

Contact bestbuy and tell them them the story and see if they can deactivate the code...or atleast see who used it.
Cant hurt to try.

Ive tried something similar w/ an xbox code. Contacted Microsoft and they ended up telling me who used it..ect. The claim was then removed once I mentioned the name it was used under.
