Chael Sonnen Shoots on Anderson Silva, Georges St-Pierre & Brock Lesnar
Posted by Steve Cook on 09.14.2010

Well, why not?

Chael Sonnen's Q & A session with UFC fans was everything that people were hoping for, and then some. Here are some high points.

On Anderson Silva: "Is Anderson here somewhere? I'll kick his ass from Austin all the way to San Antonio.

"People keep saying, 'Chael, you're hyping the fight.' No I'm not. Hyping a fight is when I tell you guys, 'This is going to be a great fight.' I did just the opposite (before the first fight), and I'm going to do just the opposite now. This is not going to be a great fight. This is going to be him getting beat up for 25 minutes or until he gives up."

"I think [Silva] is a great fighter, but he's not as good as me. He's not as good as Yushin Okami, either. He's not the best guy in the world, and he never has been. He's a sham. He's one of these guys that throws leg kicks. So what if you get get kicked in your leg? What a bunch of [crying]. Getting kicked in the leg and admitting that hurts is like admitting you're scared in the dark. It may be true, but if you say it, you're a real wimp."

On Georges St-Pierre: "'GSP' had better pray to heaven above that 'Shogun' accepts my challenge because one of those two is getting beat up,"

"If GSP said he wanted to fight me, the first thing I would say is the same thing I say every time I hear GSP talk: 'Dang it that guy sounds like a French-Canadian Minnie Mouse. That's the first thing I'd say. Then I'd say, 'Hey, GSP, let me ask you a serious question – do you have a designated driver? Do you have someone to get you home safely? Because clearly you are intoxicated."

"GSP, do you have a hankering for pain? GSP, did you lose a bet with God? GSP, bring your $3,000 suit, bring your $3 date and get the three-cent tan knocked off your socialist back.' If you see GSP, give him that message for me."

On Brock Lesnar: "If Brock Lesnar was here right now, I'd take my boot off and throw it at him, and he'd better polish it up before he brings it back to me. Talking about he's the baddest guy in the UFC? Brock, quit eating so many raw eggs and doing push-ups because it's affecting your realm of reality. Are you kidding me? I'd slap you in your face, and you wouldn't do anything.

"'I'm Brock Lesnar. I've got this $5 haircut and a knife tattooed on my chest.' I'll shove it up your face if you get in Chael Sonnen's way."

He also had a poem written especially for Anderson Silva:

"Anderson, who you gonna send?"

Anderson, think it through.
There's still a few months before they lock the cage door behind me and you.
Last time, they raised your hand, but it was plain to see
I took a lot more about of you than you took out of me.
I broke the mirror, and I blew away the smoke.
It was me who tapped, but it was you who broke.

-Chael Sonnen

I don't know whether to be amused by this or what.

That is hilarious. I love the smack talk.

I do to, but there comes a point where too much it too much I think.

It's different talking trash leading up to a fight. It just seems Sonnen is calling out anyone and everyone in every weight class just to be talked about himself.

Why would anyone antagonize Brock Lesnar? Everyone knows he has a hair-trigger temper. Why poke him? Next time Lesnar is in the same place as Sonnen, Chael will probably be regretting having said those things. Nothing will happen I am sure, but somewhere inside of him he'll be afraid and wishing he hadn't said what he said.

Sam come on brother, you've gone a bit overboard on your man-crush (for Brock). Brock probably laughed it up (they are probably friends behind the scene's)...Most of this "hair-trigger temper" crap is for show buddy, they'll play it up in front of the camera & for the fan's but they're in this to make a living (most all of the stuff we see outside of the cage is based solely for entertainment purposes). ;)

I believe Brock has a temper. And I don't see why me saying Brock has a temper has anything to do with a mancrush. Wouldn't a mancrush be trying to defend him and say he doesn't?

So the times the Brock was backstage in pro wrestling getting into legitimate physical altercations with people, and in practice with the Vikings, those were all just to ham it up for the fans? I think not.

I think the guy loses it sometimes and can't control himself, ala after the 2nd Mir fight.

I agree that he sometimes crosses the line....case and point the Lance Armstrong comments. However, I've met him a couple of times and he couldn't have been a nicer guy. I think a lot of it....is him just talking to talk...I think he likes to play the face and heel role.

 That was his inner WWE coming out, & yeah I think it was all for show (but when he was quickly slapped on the nose & told "no-no", by D.White, he promptly went into damage control mode).

The reason I brought up the "beyond a man-crush" was not due to you mentioning that Brock has a temper, but because you make it sound as if everyone should fear Brock Lesnar (ex. "Why would anyone antagonize Brock Lesnar? Everyone knows he has a hair-trigger temper. Why poke him?").... Do you honestly think Chael or almost anyother pro fighter (UFC or not) is "scared" of Lesnar? I guess you answered that question: "somewhere inside of him he'll be afraid"...

It seems you have this built up fascination with Lesnar as if he's the terminator...he's not even Chuck Norris bro! I can honestly admit Lesnar is a badass "BUT" he's not invincible (hell we saw that in his 1st fight with Mir)...

I agree! I think, as with most all of the "hoopla" & "trash talk" that goes on outside of the cage, it's all for show. It sells PPV's & puts the asses in the seat's! :D
