The Players Association turning down MLB's request for third party mediation isn't good. Hopefully this gets fixed fast because I'm already going through baseball withdrawal.
And did you mean the elephant in the room in your title? I never heard the phrase the monkey in the room.
Each year they say on the news there will be a federal government shutdown and it never happens because the budget/bill always goes through. I think they will work it out.
But.....if there is a lock out, I hope it hurts card prices like it did in 1994 and I can pick up a few things for cheaper.![]()

North Jersey Media Group | Pete Caldera: Owners are once again attempting to hijack the narrative of the lockout by asking for a federal mediator, insinuating that it’s the players who are holding up proceedings. This comes after a 43-day delay between instituting the lockout and the first bargaining session, and only four negotiations between MLB and MLBPA, culminating in MLB’s refusal to tender a counteroffer to the union on Thursday. The players called the owners’ bluff, rejecting the request for a mediator and pointing out the reality that the MLBPA has always been willing to sit down at the table.didnt see much discussion on this.

going to be intresting if and when they come back. The MLB also stopped testing for steroids for the first time in almost 20 years because the PED agreement expired in December:

going to be intresting if and when they come back.
just in time to cycle down. They'll be testing again as soon as they have a CBA in place.
just in time to cycle down.
then why is it illegal? One cycle of steroids isn't going to do much to affect stats.
