Although he's a fun player to watch/follow, he's a different kind of player as shown by his stats and is sort of a spark plug. As the article points out, his recent hitting has been pretty insane, his cards are fairly inexpensive as well.

Its interesting that Gardner has been replaced more than a few times earlier in the season by Andruw Jones - another of the greatest fielders ever who possesses/possessed tremendous power instead of tremenous speed.

Brett the Jett!

Amazing he is doing so good considering his horrid start. I didn't think he would be leading the league in SB.

Wow. Before the start of the '10 season I had him pegged as a 4th outfielder with great legs but a horrible baserunning head. I had no idea his numbers ranked so well both offensively and defensively. Good for him.

If he wasn't a Yankee no body would be talking about him.

talking about a guy who was said to not be good enough for a starting mlb OF job. So far he has proved a hell of a lotta people wrong.

My guess is that he is a place holder for the Yankees until they can land a big money free-agent. After he leaves the Yankees his career will turn for the worst.

I like players who play better than people predicted. I like Brett Gardner, and I hope he continues to succeed.

How is he a placeholder exactly? He's playing way above Crawford's level for less than 1/20th the price.

I think people thought this would happen with another Yankee home-grown OF who came up at the same time - Melky. While his career took a turn for the worst in Atlanta, he's been pretty solid in KC.

I have and always will be a Gardner fan. I said when he first came up and alot of Yankees fans were bitching about him that he would win them over with his hustle. I still stand behind that statement. He is a local kid that came from a small private school and starred at the College of Charleston and has always busted his butt to prove people wrong about his ability. He is the kind of player that fans should admire and root for, I would love to have him on the Red Sox and I am sure many others would too. I am glad people are starting to take notice of a player that doesn't hit 30 bombs a year but plays hard everyday.
