Moncada forcing Red Sox to readjust his ETA
Red Sox GM Mike Hazen said Tuesday that Yoan Moncada's quick development has forced the club to "readjust" his estimated arrival in the major leagues.
There's even talk of him making his MLB debut before the end of the 2016 season. Moncada has batted .301/.407/.520 with 12 homers and 44 steals in 93 games this year between High-A Salem and Double-A Portland and he recently began transitioning from second base to third base, where he won't be blocked by Dustin Pedroia. "The fact that he’s come as fast as he has, you are forced to readjust," Hazen said. "If he had gone level to level and it took four years for him to get up here, we might not have this problem. But the fact that he has developed as quickly as he has, we’re now facing this."
