The rumors so far are:

Vitor Belfort vs. Chris Leben
Tito Ortiz vs. Rich Franklin

IMO those are 2 pretty decent fights.

Its not exactly going out on a limb but I would have to imagine Vitor and Ace are the favorites!

When does FOX start showing fights?

I'm not saying you, but Jesus I wish people would get off Vitor's nuts already. The guy's never been that great.

I don't particularly agree he'd be a clear cut favorite against Leben either. Leben's like a Cabbage at 185. He can take just about any shot Vitor throws his way and keep moving forward.

Rich, yes. Favorite in my opinion.

I am not a Vitor fan much anymore but back in the day he was most definitely the man.
I agree with you about Leben and his chin. Its legendary.
But can he stop 30 punches within a 15 second span is really what its going to come down to.

Vitor should have the advantage just based on the fact he really has nothing to worry about other than the 1 shot KO power of the crippler.
And IMO Vitor is the far superior technical boxer!

But I am always excited to see 2 guys stand and trade and I think thats what this fight will be.

I like Tito and Rich but the striking advantage definitely goes to Rich and if he can stuff Tito's takedowns, I dont why why he cant win a UD!

I think that's exactly what the UFC will be looking to provide for their first FOX telecast.

I had to vent a little bit in FaceBook this morning, so I'll share here.

I don't get all the continual hype over Vitor Belfort. He has ONE significant win on his record, and that's Wanderlei in 1998. He's lost to every great fighter he's ever faced who were anywhere near their prime. Anderson, Hendo, Sakuraba, Overeem, Tito, Randy, Chuck. He beat an old Lindland, gatekeeper Herring, old Franklin, over-rated Sexyama. I just don't get it man. I wish people would actually look at his record before slobbing in his knob continually.

I mean ****, just examine his record. Not impressive at all.

Yeah, there's a win over Randy, but we all know what happened in that fight, so that doesn't count at all.

Yeah Vitor's always been a little hard to gage.

The talent is no doubt there.

But IMO a lot of the problems lay between his ears. Mind you having your sister kidnapped and murdered would have an affect on most people but Vitor had issues even before that!

The UFC 46 fight doesnt mean much to me because of the way it ended.

When all is said and done, I think hes going to be the type of athlete whom most will say "he was really good but he could have been one of the all time greats".

Fedor was great, but I think the same thing about him. Damn, what if he had REAL camps, and was in great shape. Could have been much better than he actually was. It is sad to me.

Yeah but at least with Fedor I think we can all agree that for the most part, at one time, he had reached greatness.

There was a time when Pride had something like 4 of the top 5 HWs in the world.

I want to say the list was something like Crocop, Fedor, Nog, Herring and either Arlovski, Sylvia or Mir(all of whom were with the UFC).

He ran through Herring, ran through Nog a couple of times, and beat Mirko at his own game.
Then he also did what he was supposed to to guys like Schilt, Goodridge, Coleman

Unfortunately at the time MMA wasnt like how it is now where guys have 3 months notice, set up a training camp at ATT or Jacksons and rinse and repeat twice or three times a year.

My friend who's firm represents Shane Carwin told me last night that he's hearing rumors that Overeem is going to be on the card.

Ahhh I see.
Yeah I read he may be on the card as well but until he signs with them, its just a rumor!

Could be an announcement of his signing today and that he'll be on the card.

But I don't think that the casual fan will know much about him.

I think Mir vs Nog would be a bigger draw then say, Carwin vs Overeem.

They want fights like, I believe, you suggested, Franklin/Ortiz and Vitor/Leben. They want all out showcase stand up brawls. Which I think those fights would be. And they could promote the crap out of those fights.

Is this supposed to be on FOX or FX?

Never mind. I just figured it out.

I don't get why they are only showing one fight though. It seems like they would want to milk it. What if the fight lasts a minute? People who've never really watched much are going to be disappointed. At least showing a few fights gives new fans a chance to see a couple good fights. It seems they are gearing it at first to bring in new fans, so why put all your eggs in one basket?

Fox has a 1 hour window to broadcast the UFC that night.
But there are still other fights happening that night.
So worst case scenario the fight lasts 2 minutes, and Fox will broadcast 1 or 2 of the other fights.
Kinda of like what happens on a PPV when the main event ends too quickly.
If the fight lasts all 5 rounds, well it will probably take up close to the full hour between entrances, intros, the fight and the post fight.
