First up...

"Stormin'" Gorman Thomas!
Thomas_Reco.jpg

#'d to 20

I've only seen this once, and that was in someone else's PC photobucket. Very happy to pick it up as it's pretty rare.

Speaking of rare -- up next would be one of my locks for the HoF in a few years. It's a toughie, but I got it by at least $30 cheaper than I expected to. VERY rare, and I'm pretty sure it ranks up there in my favorites, because it's just so crisp (though I'd be hard pressed to find a top favorite).

Craig Biggio!!!

Biggio_Reco.jpg

#'d to 10!!!

This brings my total up to 53 different DK Recollection/Reprint autos. I would have 54 but I traded away a Monte Irvin 1983 DK Reco auto like an idiot. (It was #'d to 7 and I only paid $20 for it.. and traded it as part of a lot for some other stuff)

Love the look of that set and congrats! That's a tough set to put together. Hope you can land another Irvin, that's a shame. How many do you have left?

That Biggio is beautiful. A nice, large on-card sig and low numbered!

The blue-bordered 1990 DKs had GREAT artwork. Perez did a wonderful job on them. I have seen a total of 4 on blue-borders, and I own two of them.

I don't own:
Sandy Alomar, Jr. (I conceded this one to an Alomar collector here on the boards)
Lenny Dykstra (I've seen it once, but I can't remember why I didn't pick it up)

I do own:
Craig Biggio (#9/10)

Edgar Martinez (6/30)

ATTENTION: If you or someone you know owns ANY DK Recollection autos... please, contact me!

I actually just e-mailed the guy I traded the Irvin to. He's hosting a show this weekend, and I threw out a cash offer for it back. :-)

I really wish I knew how many I had left. The print Beckett's don't list all of the cards from the Recollection sets, as they span from 2001 to 2005 Donruss products (Timelines, Diamond Kings, etc...) and, even then, not all Recollections from one year are going to be on Diamond Kings. Random players from random years are featured on DK buybacks, and the only way to find them on a checklist is to go through Beckett's OPG through EVERY Donruss baseball product looking for a Recollection auto with a "DK" notation before the numbering.

The Biggio looks so much nicer than the Edgar because of the blue ink. Are you looking for all DK recollections? I think I still may have a Jose Vidro but I don't remember the year.

Thanks, but I only collect ones on DK's from '82 - '91 (the classic DKs).

And I just got a great question via PM for people who may decide to go for these for themselves. It can get a bit confusing so I'll post it here.. I hope he doesn't mind:

Are there different levels of a specific DK auto card?

I see you have a Mattingly /15....yet the same card on Ebay the seller say sit's /4???

Just curious.

Thanks

Yeah, there are. There are silver, gold, platinum levels. Silver levels are usually numbered higher. Golds are usually 2 - 10, and the Platinums are 1/1. For nstance, I have platinum Gary Carter and Steve Carlton, both #1/1, but I have seen the same cards with higher numbering.
The numbering is according to the foil color, but they can be on the same year buyback. (t's confusing and can be a pain in the butt)

Thanks, guys!

When I collected the set the Biggio was one of my favorites, even more than other more expensive cards of more popular players. I had to look up how much I got for my Biggio and it actually sold for $158.50. I hope the guy that bought all of mine doesn't decide to break them up or else he'll lose a lot of money.

Nice new additions Adam. I actually have one of those Gormans in my collection, but it's signed in black ink and #'d/22. I know they inserted some of the same cards into different sets over the years - I'm sure just to make things more interesting for collectors like you! Keep up the good work.

 :o

I'm pretty sure that falls under the same category as the Hall of Heros donruss inserts.
I've yet to start on those, but I wouldn't mind getting a start. I'll be PMing you shortly.

To everyone else: Thanks for all of the great replies! I've had soooo much support from many of you guys, and that's what has kept me going. It wa slooking grim for a while with people wanting more and more for these cards, but they are finally falling off, again!

I appreciate the support! You guys are the best!
