What is the story on STAR cards from the 80's/90's?

I’m not sure if these will come out or not posting like this. But, in case you can see everything, here’s my Puckett’s from the Star sets from 1988 - 1992.

1988 - lots of error/print waste possibly in this year. I bought a number of sheets from a high volume seller and had a friend cut them for me, so I could keep the Puckett’s.

1989 - Pretty straight up year, no errors that I’m aware of, yet anyway. There was a matte and glossy version of the Nova promo for Puckett.

1990 - another pretty straight up year, no errors that I’m aware of. Like 1989, Puckett had a matte and glassy pink/red ad card available.

1991 - another straight up year, no errors that I’m aware of.

1992 - duplicates you see are also from sheet cuts and have extra stock all around the edges. I like these as I’ve mentioned.

Hopefully you can see them all. I count 113 entires in 1988, 22 in 1989 and 1990, 60 in 1991 and 47 in 1992. 264 total which included one sealed set from 1988 (bag). I didn’t chase the extra sets that came in the snap cases...

Looooooosiana!
Sadly, Star baseball cards, even the star players, are pretty much worthless. I have a 1990 Star Barry Bonds error card graded a 10 by Ikon grading and it sold for $3 the other day on eBay. They were mass produced which is likely a big reason why.
This may have a lot to do with the fact it was graded by Ikon Grading and less to do with it being Star.

Thank you! The very first thing I bought from eBay when I stumbled on the site after hearing a radio commercial in the late 90’s was a Puckett regular 1988 Star set. I had never seen them before. I couldn’t find that stuff pre/internet and eBay specifically where I lived. So, my mind was blown and I stared looking for more Star sets. It was fun chasing them all down and then finding some unfinished stock, odd errors and printers waste type cards from their releases which I’m all about anyway... the hunt continues!

I hope no one minds that this is the second time I'm posting this on this thread (the last time was four years ago), but I'm still chasing the 1992 Star Ad Card of David Justice. Considering it has a current book value of $1 I will pay an obscene amount for it, even do cash and trade together. Aside from the Blue/White 1990 Donruss Proofs, this is the earliest card on my wantlist and the only one left before 1996.

I doubt anyone will mind. Most of us are crazy player collectors as well. I'll keep an eye out for it. We all have that $1 card we'd pay an obscene amount for. Good luck finding it.

Somebody probably has stacks of hundreds of that card.

I have some other signed sets such as Yaz, Yount, and a Brett. Several promo cards and even a few blank backs. Evidently I was an early customer. The Carlton was the first signed and numbered. The Schmidt was repurchased (I think they had a bunch unsold) and 500 sets were numbered, signed, and repackaged. All my Star signed sets are still unopened. I am thinking of selling the majority of my collection. I just retired and my grandkids just want the money so I shall sell them and pay for my golf membership and a trip to the Grand Canyon. I love my grandkids but they have no sense of humor. They will now. Is an LOL allowed?

Thank you for your help. What format is best for this site? I would like to share a few promos.
