Seeing this got me looking at the history of uniforms in baseball. As much as people seem to complain about teams switching all the time, most teams haven't made any drastic changes in 10+ years. If you look back in history most teams were changing it up every couple seasons prior to the 80s.

And there are certain teams, NYY, DET, KC, BOS, who haven't changed anything in 50 years on their home unis (not counting 3rd jerseys).

1909-1912 the Highlanders had red white blue uni's, but the red was primarily in the socks and hat.

on that card...... that mesh polyester uni is from the Budweiser Appreciation Softball Game in June of 1983, but he was too drunk to actually play, so its not really game used.

Its from the boxers he was wearing when he shagged that chick behind the scoreboard.

was the red piece put in there by a card faker? I wonder why that piece is unraveling towards the top if it came from the manufacturer that way.

The Yankees are the only team that haven't changed their uniforms.Heck, the Yankees don't even wear the new Cool Base Jerseys, they still wear the old style Majestic Jerseys..

I think it's legit (well, at least the part where it came out of the pack that way). I saw one similar get pulled in a group break. Didn't make any more sense then than it does now.

Have this. I'm thinking this is either a Topps error or from an All-Star Game workout jersey or something:

Is it possible that it could be from the waist band of pants or something like that?

That's not true. Minus third jerseys, and minor changes like sleeve patches, etc. there are more teams than just the Yankees who haven't changed anything. The Tigers home jersey is basically the same since 1904. There are years between 1904 and 1934 where they had other variations, but the old English D is still the most prevalent in those years. And since 1934 it hasn't changed at all.

Neither have the Dodgers since the move to LA.
