Well the economy has the card market down a bit, and some past favorites have dropped in prices considerably. Meanwhile players continue to develop. With prospects, if the player is a bust it might happen before the market as a whole rebounds, so it's crucial to hit on winners. With guys in the majors, it may just be a matter of buying the guys you like and waiting for the market to rebound (which I believe it will sooner or later as the interest in baseball cards seems to have remained pretty strong.) Of course there are other factors like players getting overlooked which need to be considered.
So...who do you like?
Me?
Albert Pujols-Guy in unreal and RC Auto's have not been this low in a long time. The SPx is my favorite at current prices and if I get the funds I'll probably try to buy another
David Wright-Only RC Auto. NY. Playoffs. Young and getting better. Prices as low as they've been in a few years.
Nick Markakis-Continues to improve. OBP up a ton this year. RC Auto is really cheap.
Felix Hernandez-Record makes people overlook the ERA.
Brian McCann-Catchers are tough, but he's had a huge year, and prices have remained really low.
Any others? I think K-Rod is much cheaper than he would be if he was going for the record in a year where the market was better. His cards might receive a bump if/when he hits the market.
