Just curious as to which of these players you would consider overrated... please vote for 1 to 5 of them. Use the criteria of on-the-field play and current card prices...

I didn't vote because I don't think any of them are overrated. If any, it would be Torii Hunter...but I couldn't choose him because I don't know anyone who thinks he's legitimately good

It's funny, I KNEW Jeter would lead in votes... he is disliked on these boards for some reason. To each their own... :)

I think he is overrated but its because he has done nothing to warrant the prices his stuff sells for.We all know though that on the field performance never seems to show up in hobby standing. Some guys will suck and be worth a ton while some are awesome and are worth pennies on the dollar.

Jeter is a great player. But as aforementioned in a billion different threads...his playing for the yankees is what really churns the butter.Same for A-Rod.And for good reasons. They are both good players and play for the biggest market team of any sports franchise in the entire freaking world.Does that = current card prices though? No.The only reason they are so high is because they are yankees. If they played for smaller market teams their stuff would be way lower.End of story there.

As far as Adam Dunn being overrated...I have to agree with the other poster who said that he is not held with a high rating. He is a good homerun hitter but he is not the best fielder and he has far too many strikeouts.

One thing I did not understand about your poll was Hanley Ramirez. That guy is underrated if anything.

If jeter played on some teem like toronto or florida, we would hardly hear about him and his prices would be cheap.

Dunn

They don't call him big donkey for nothing. Sucks at fielding and running the bases, big and clumbsy. Will be the first hitter to 3,000 strikeouts, he's good for 160+/year...averaging 1/game. He hits for power but that's because he has a big build, if he didn't he would suck. Mmm .247 career average! .225 career average with RISP, even better!! 1 demensional...yeah he's overrated.

Im not sure how Torii Hunter is on the list as his cards are cheap and nobody over hypes him :? The guy has Averaged 26 HRs and averaged 20 SBs over the last 8 years and has 8 gold gloves to his name and plays his heart out, I would say he's good..

One of These Thing Is Not Like the Other.

How can you make a list that long and have a guy like Ellsbury in there? I believe this season was still considered his rookie campaign and you have him inn with ALL established players, who are stars. Obviously everyone is going to vote for Ellsbury just because hes the worst player listed there. Take Ellsbury out and everyone votes Jeter. Keep in mind I am a Red Sox fan....

He hit .289 in 2002, and he hit .287 in 2007...those are the only two seasons to meet the .285-.300 criteria - he's a .272 career hitter - may be nitpicking, but facts are facts. He's also never reached 25 SB, nor has has he passed 20 since 2005.

Give me a god damn break with this rumor. Jeter IS NOT OVERRATED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He is one of the best SS to ever play this game. Any guy that can put a team on his back and win 4 WS Championships is not overrated by any means. This is just retarted to think that this assumption is even close. Elsbury from the Red Sox is a great example of overrated. When he came up to the bigs he was the greatest thing since electricity and now the guy sucks! No one should ever call Jeter overrated because they are just kidding themselves.

Some thoughts:

Jeter prices are high in one chooses not to consider that there are many factors outside of onfield play that contribute to a player's prices.

Adam Dunn IMO is one of the most underrated players in baseball. His low BA and high K's helps people ignore the fact that every season he is right up there with the league leaders in homers, while sporting an OBP of close to .400.

Ellsbury is young and still has developed yet, but he's no different than 100 other young players who are hyped.

How is Sizemore even an option here? I mean the guy went practically 35-35, close to 40-40.
