I know this is one of the deepest years ever as far as draft classes are concerned, but I don't think it makes BDP a better product to bust than Bowman Chrome. I think they will be vastly different products this year for case busters as BDP will be one of the safer breaks in recent years with so many quality guys - but some of the top guys were not included. Bowman Chrome will be extremely top heavy with a handful of great autos, and 30+ guys you're not happy pulling. But do the top guys outweigh the bad for breakers? To be clear, I have 10 cases of BDP coming and only 4 of BC, but I wish it was a little more balanced at this point.

This isnt a post to say BDP wont be great, I think it will. I'm simply saying Bowman Chrome after last years fiasco with overproduction, this years BC will be much better than we think. This might be the least anticipated Bowman Chrome release I've EVER seen on these boards and I think its simply because people have a sour taste in their mouth from last year. I think this lack of hype will also greatly benefit the product as without the insane demand like last year, they will print accordingly.

When is the last time a Bowman product had so many base autos sell for a premium? Harper, Hosmer, Matt Moore, Lawrie, Banuelos, Jacob Turner, etc.

I'm anxious to see pack odds to calculate production!

Can't remember the last time I had no interest in bc. way, way too many scrub autos. Ill just pick up the ones I like instead of cracking a case.

My money is going to leaf, bcdp, elite (maybe) and bow ster.

170 worthless red veteran cards?

Definitely not worthless, selling sets in BC every year has value.

I guess its just a matter of preference. With 5 guys that will have base autos selling for the $50+ range, I'd rather take my luck pulling a parallel of them rather than a BDP set with a ton of $12-15 base autos. As I said before, BDP should be an incredibly safe bet, but the gambler in me is looking at risk/reward.

20 cases of each on order for me.
IMO the Bowman chrome inserts and canary base parallel add more value than usual coupled with the higher end players on this checklist.

As for BDP agreed it is safe, and will be a fun break with many many players to prospect on.

I view them similarly as you do, yet definately feel there is less risk in the BC release this year as a case breaker.

I can update my feelings on the product in about 5 days.....

Are the good autos from Bowman Chrome coming too late though? Matt Moore is done playing. Brett Lawrie is done playing, as is Hosmer; you get the point.

What BDPP has going for it is not only is it a realitively safe bust every year and keeps giving year after year, it also is pure hype if you DO hit one of the big guys in a nice parallel.

And do we know for sure the Bowman Chromes' print run is small. I'm sure it has to be smaller than last year, but with all those autos, it still seems like there's a lot of it to go around.
