Compare that to the Montero Super Auto, which ended at $1601. Both are redemptions as well. And both sold to the same bidder.

Suprised the Flores went for twice as much as the Montero. Even more suprised that both sold for so high being redemptions.

Never would have guessed the winner  I guess someone wanted to push him to his limit but obviously it didn't work.

I'm kinda surprised it "one-upped" the Montero super, that being said, if Montero does go on to be a catcher (I'm not sure how that will play out as I haven't kept too close of tabs on him) I don't think his ceiling will be as great as Flores's at the shortstop position (I'm speaking as far as hobby price goes on the secondary market.. & I realize Montero would be playing for the Yanks but even if he could play up to Posada's ability, which is a HUGE "if", we can see the Hobby love Posada receives value-wise; whereas Flores would be playing for the Mets & the hobby just loves throwing $$ at the shortstop position). Just my opinion though guy's & gal's! AWESOME card either way! :D

In prospecting, you don't wait to find out if the prospect reaches his full potential before you sell. You dump after he gets called up and/or gets some "next big thing" hype.

Look at Wieters......he's a catcher, yet with some hype (without even reaching the majors) made huge profits for some people (Cough.....Andrew.....Cough).

First off, I never mentioned anything about prospecting but even if I did there are no rules in prospecting (that is what is so great about it!). I've known people to buy in at bargain basement price's & hold until peak performance to sell (or supposed peak) so I'm not sure how you came up with not holding until full potential (maybe you're thinking about the definition of "flipping", as that would be closer to what you just described- "not holding until full potential, but instead, dumping quickly"? Eh? Anyhow, I can see where some might think that is what prospecting is about but prospecting really isn't just limited to those set of guidelines. :D

Yeah, I just re-read your initial post. I read it wrong....I thought you were talking about how catchers don't get hobby love when you were talking about Posada....I was speed reading. Which that doesn't make much sense now that I think about it because Posada is about the only catcher who does get good hobby love.

My bad....I had a moment.

I guess you had another moment, as I was comparing the hobby love comparison between catcher's vs. shortstop's & using Posada as a ceiling gauge for a catcher (showing that if he receives the most hobby love then Montero has that as a ceiling to look forward to, if he's lucky enough to be anywhere near as good or as liked as Posada). :D
