Bonds. No doubt, the most feared hitter. How many intentional walks did he have. That is why we have chickens at AT&T Park.

BARRY. LAMAR. BONDS.

Greatest baseball player of all time, if you don't count the steroids. Here's how my all-time hitter only list goes

Ted Williams
Barry Bonds
Babe Ruth

Ted Williams - greatest hitter of all time. Not nearly enough war credit IMO.

If were talking just 1990's I'd say Griffey, even though Iam a huge Bonds guy, but 90's through '05 Bonds hands down.

no doubt bonds, arguably the most feared hitter of all time. though mcgwire rarely hit a line drive home run (more like a 450 ft bomb), bonds was the complete package.

Wow, this is a tough question as they were all so great! But when talking strictly power hitting....

I'll play along.

BIG MAC
-This guy probablly was the best HR hitter as far as power and how the ball reacted off his bat. I simply have never seen anything like it. When he hit em they were gone, long, hard and fast!

BARRY BONDS
-Probablly the most talented athleet of the bunch! Developed more in to a power hitter after his 30's though so its hard to tell if he would have been a 'power' hitter if not for the juice. Even though, the guy hit a ton of HR's. More so because he had a great eye and an awesome swing than natural power in my opinion.

SAMMY SOSA
-Sosa had a handful of great years, but I just do not consider him in the same class as the top power hitters of this or any generation.

ALEX RODRIGUEZ
-Alex is an awesome hitter! Power and average, speed and grace. However, next to a guy like Big Mac, he would be just average power. Albiet his HR's are many and his shots are blasts. Definitly worth the discussion.

KEN GRIFFEY JR
-Another great talent with plenty of hits, HR's and a classic swing. Although Griffey's HR's are generated more with a balance of a awesome swing and power in my opinion. Worthy of nomination, but short of taking the cake I do believe.

JIM THOME
-Although great HR totals, I do not think he should be in this discussion unless I'm mistaken and we are talking greatest HR hitters and not 'better power hitters'. Can he produce solid HR totals year in and year out? Sure.. But does Thome's name really come to mind when you think 'greatest power hitter"? Not in mine..

FRANK THOMAS
-Definitly a great hitter in his day, with plenty of power. 7 or 8 years ago, I would consider him for the crown but it was just so long ago that he had that awesome power that made him the 'big hurt' that I just do not see him as a top nomonee of 'best power hitter' any longer...

MANNY RAMIREZ
-Much like Griffey and Bonds, Manny is a true talent. Equally qualified to kill you with a HR as a liner in to right rield, or drawing a walk at the plate. Much like Griffey, his power is a combination of a superior swing and plate dicipline(good eye). And, much like bonds, although from time to time he would hit that shot that made you go 'holy jesus!", I feel it came down to mechanics rather than raw power.

Ultimatly, and without question(in my mind), Big Mac was the best power hitter to play the modern game and perhaps of all time. Just about every HR was a rocket launching in to mars with a sound like a thundering explosion. He wasent pretty, and he wasent looking for singles. But he had the most raw power and hit the hardest, loudest and longest HR's of anyone I've ever seen or heard of. And he did it from day 1 till the day he retired.

Big Mac, he brought baseball back to life with his bat- the year he & Sosa battled it out was the greatest year of baseball that I can remember next to the Astros going to the World Series (& that's saying something considering this town was "electric" during the series). Hell when Mac & Sosa were going toe-to-toe for the HR race, it seemed as if the entire nation was "electric"! That being said, the power he displayed that year (whether he was cranked on enhancer's or not) has not been displayed since!

I do agree with many that Bonds was the most feared hitter and one of the best hitters of all time but the pole is for Better Power Hitter. So I'd have to say Big Mac. Huge power. I know it is hard to argue against Bond's record HR numbers but to me Big Mac was Mr. Power.

I think everyone is picking Bonds because he was easily the best player all-around in the bunch... but you asked who the best POWER hitter was, and that was easily Big Mac.
