That brings up a good point...use batting orders for the year previous to the date of the card and you'll likely catch some cameos of your player in the batter's box on cards featuring the hitter ahead of him in the lineup.

Yup, that's what always has me going through canseco, lankford, drew and edmonds cards (amongst a small handful of others).

Also if they are in the infield - pitchers are a good source of cameos as well. Righties will land you more 1B but seem to be even more 2B cameos and lefties the same with 3B and SS.

The guy on the Lankford card looks more like Brian Jordan.

The guy on the Drew card may not be McGwire, but Eli Marrero.

The 1999 SP Lankford just mentions McGwire's name. So far I've just been doing pics. Name dropping is a whole different ball of wax that I'm not ready to tackle. Do these have pics?

He's in the on-deck circle of the Lankford (see below) so it's not just by name. I haven't gotten into cards mentioning him by name yet. If I start that, I will be opening the can of checklist hell spanning over 30 years of checklists and checklist variations to locate.

I don't have a Spectrum yet of Edmonds and apparently neither does any site I looked through. I just cut and copied these pics from checkoutmycards. These cards are in my "need to scan" pile which is over 1k cards deep so it will be awhile until I can get you better pictures.

I think the guy on the 2006 Topps Erstad card maybe Miguel Cairo - the card is also a Series Two card, so Topps could have actually gone with an image where Cairo played for the Yankees in 2006.
