Thanks for the list, J.P. Shocked to see Jonathan Gray at 63! Rationale?

I anticipated this question from the jump. His year wasn't quite up to ***** by most people's standards (especially toward the end of the season), and his velocity fell a bit as well, down to the low/mid 90's from 102 MPH in 2013. That, plus the infamous "mile-high stigma" (i.e. Rockies' pitching prospects tend to tank when called up) caused me to rank him where I did. That said, I'm rooting for him to prove everyone wrong, including me.

Also, where you think you'd slot Yoan Moncada were he eligible? Or do we just know too little about him?

He'd probably be in the low-mid teens. I've read quite a bit about him, especially from Kiley McDaniel. Here's hoping the OFAC unblocks him sooner than later, so he can sign with a team and get some cards produced. (He's held private workouts for several teams, including the Dodgers this morning.)

Are there a few guys, off the op of your head, that you think you'll be much higher on than Law or MLB? Guys you're lower on? (other than Gray)

Swihart, Jackson, and Kolek jump out at me.

I find it almost impossible to predict Law's and MLB.com's line of thinking when creating their lists.

All I can tell you is, they'll likely rank some guys that we'll find to be way too high and way too low. (Hey, it keeps people talking.)

Pretty shocked Bird didn't make your list. He is looking like he is going to be a stud at 1B once Tex is gone.

Also, where is Lindgren? I figured he was a lock for top 100 lists.

One last question,
We saw an influx of talent from the international level into the Yanks system. Do you not know enough about them to rank any of them? They signed something like 15 of the top 30, I would guess a couple would've made the list unless you just don't have the info on them yet.

1) Bird has the power to succeed, and as you saw, was an honorable mention. Above-average power, although his other tools aren't quite as impressive.

2) Relievers rarely make my lists (same with others').

3) See #86 .

Just to clarify, I believe the OP was speaking of the 2014 J2s. Mateo signed in 2012.

To OP, the 16 y/os are too far away to realistically rank in the year they sign. You'll see them shoot up the list in their first professional season or two. Many will hardly get out of complex ball next year.

Nice list Jaypers, thanks for sharing.

I'm surprised that Nick Gordon didn't make your list.

After his strong AFL performance Rosario make your top "125" so to speak.. how about Alen Hanson?

What are the chances James Taillon see Pittsburgh this year?

Who has the potential to make the biggest jump on this list as the season progresses? Austin Meadows and David Dahl come to mind for me.

Someone's gotta ask it....why isn't Bryant number one and how can Buxton possibly be the top spot?

Gordon was an honorable mention. Rosario wasn't so close. I'd probably put him in the 110 range. Same with Hansen. If Taillon stays healthy I could see him getting the call in Sept.

As for biggest jump, I'm lousy at predicting such things, so I won't try.

I agonized between the two for the longest time. However, Buxton's tools are just too glaringly good to ignore. He has 80 speed, an 80 arm/defender, above average power and a 70 bat. I'm giving him a mulligan, and chalking off his 2014 to bad luck.
