Had this conversation with come collectors at a trade night last weekend. I would like some examples for Round 2 next month.
Tonight's trivial question was what year and product Topps insert the first game used insert ? No one knew.
If anything, please comment. I was off to college and was out of card collecting until 2003. I been reading old Beckett magazines and it seemed business went on normally.
If I bought this and my auto was Conor Biggio I'd be really mad. He didn't even sign and I bet he is the Chaz Roe in this product for the next five years.
The fact that Minor League team issued sets are largely ignored. You have some teams that only produce 200 to 500 of these sets with many finding themselves in the garbage 10 years later.
Why don't you you just the day before you visit a teams complex get the official roster from the team ? They are are updated every so often thru the week as players are released. They have versions in both alphabetically and numerical order. For example, I will go to the Pirates complex the day...
I think the following four get in tommorow: Martinez, Johnson, Smoltz, and Biggio
My guesses at their vote %
96.9 - R. Johnson
94.8 - P. Martinez
82.7 - Smoltz
77.1 - Biggio
Piazza missing with 73.9 %

I used to get these all the time as my stocking stuffer:

Yea, new VHS tapes cost stores like Video Xpress and Blockbuster a arm and a leg. That's the man reason you had late fees. At 2.50 a rental, you wouldn't have made any money until about the 38 rental. Those Bull Durham cards were released in packs of six.
They were cards advertising the release of the movie on VHS. Yes, a band new VHS tape cost $89.98. I was working in video store at the time of the release and we gave the cards away.
