In regards to the WBTV team card, I do not recall seeing one sell individually at auction. I believe one was listed but may have been pulled. Not 100%. To me, Cal has 6 minor league cards. This includes his individual cards (Police, WBTV, TCMA, WTF) and the WBTV team photo and WTF checklist...
Thursday night, Huggins and Scott did something pretty historic as they sold a complete 1980 Charlotte O's Police set. This set includes the card called Cal's "Holy Grail." Considering that the cards were never collated in set form, it is a tough set to complete. There are fewer than 5 known...
For those keeping up, Huggins and Scott is in the process of closing auction listings for a 1980 Charlotte O's Police set. The 25 card set was broken down to three different lots: 1) A BVG 8 Ripken, 2) a PSA 7 Pepper Girls card, 3) and the remaining 23 cards. The Pepper Girls card has ended for...
That was tough. Didn't that guy ultimately sell the cards? I can't remember what became of them.
Hindsight is always 20/20 but a lot of people who have been selling the orange cards via BIN have got to be feeling sick right now.
The sad thing is that I had an opportunity to purchase one of them in 2006 for a little over $900. Life was different then and I simply did not have the extra cash. Talk about a return on investment.
As of August, PSA/BGS/SGC had slabbed a combined 20 copies of the card. I know of at least one copy recently slabbed by PSA, bringing the total known population to 21. This is one of those rare cards where I do not believe a potential owner is worried about condition. It's not so much the idea...
Final price (including commission) for the Ripken: $11,850.
Final price (including commission) for the partial set of 15 Police cards: $651.75.
Total for both lots: $12,501.75.
Incredible.
The auction is in overtime rules for the PSA 4 1980 Charlotte O's Police card. High bid is currently $6,500. Keep in mind there is a 18.5% commission.
The 1980 Charlotte O's Police partial set of 15 cards ends at $550 ($651.75 counting commission).
