Quite simply, the Orioles have been disrespected all year and I love it. Not only were they (we) picked to finish last in the A.L. East, but the general sentiments seemingly are as follows:
1.) "The only reason the Orioles are winning are because the A.L. East is down". (not because the Orioles...
As an Orioles fan who watches every game, CD was on his way of coming out of it. His plate and pitch discipline had become MUCH better over the past two weeks and he was starting to go the other way with power like in 2013.
I want to thank the OP for the heads up! I was completely unaware of this and picked up three binders last night. I had been looking for binds EXACTLY like these and this really made my day. My 1957-1983 Orioles team set collection will look GREAT in them.
Last Monday night I listed a random 1983 Fleer Gwynn rookie just hoping to get 5 bucks for it. Tonight, it ended at 43 dollars. I suppose I should be thrilled over this, but I'm just not. Gwynn was a throwback and represented everything that is good about the game. It's a sad day for the game.
Die-Hard Orioles fan. Love Machado but what he pulled this weekend was wrong. What's worse, the ballpark was packed with Little Leaguers today who probably know more about sportsmanship than this prima donna act.
I don't have time to search all of these threads....but wasn't there a Gwynn collector who was searching for some Pacific unopened packs with his image on it? I bought a large collection and in one of the boxes was a bunch of loose Pacific retail and hobby packs with his image on them.
There are probably tens of thousands of 1952 Topps Mantle cards surviving for several reasons:
1.) He was double-printed sheets of 1952 Topps high numbers
2.) His card was saved more because he was already one of the most popular players in New York.
3.) Unlike tobacco cards, modern bubble...
Thank you! I write up each and every "shoebox" collection that comes through. I have a template for key cards so that it doesn't take me 100 years to write each lot.
Edited to add: We have three writers on staff. When it is not during our deadline, I handle all modern and vintage cards along...
Anytime, I pass through Williamsport to go to upstate New York, I always find these guys in the median....yes the median of the highway. Been there since 1978 and I still don't know how they can pack 10 million cards in such an orderly way in a 1500 square foot space. I bet these guys would have...
Chad,
I don't think we've ever spoke, but I do remember you from the Beckett days. If you'd like to register with us, I can definitely help you bid with us.
James (Huggins & Scott)
P.S--As the Head Writer for Huggins & Scott, I really look forward to the REA catalog...it is very well done.
Full disclosure: I never got the Undertaker and though "the streak" was lame.
This is awesome! Wrestlemania was completely stale with The Undertaker and his streak. Great swerve that is made even better that Heyman is the ultimate heel. CM Punk or Rock vs. Lesnar in Wrestlemania XXXI? Much...
Remarkable! Back in 2005, before I had children and a lot more time, I subscribed to an autograph service which gave me addresses to former big league ballplayers. I would send them a short note, a card or two to sign and a SASE. I had about a 50% success rate and got autographs back from Hall...
I was the first to sell and figured it would be best to be first out of the block rather than the last. I agree with the 1981 WTF card being undervalued. I think what keeps the price low is the fact that it is black-and-white. Looks beautiful signed with a blue sharpie though.
Uh oh...it's baseball card fight time! Seriously, how about 2014 Leaf Before They Were Heroes? There are actually plenty of minor league photos of dozens of Hall of Famers. It would be amazing to have some buyback minor league issues inserted.
