There's some pretty cool McGwire things you sold in the memorabilia section.
I remember a lot of that stuff from the late '90s (and have some of it, like the starting lineups and even a Bamm Beano.)

Yeah I'm delivering it all to him in NYC tomorrow, only about an hour drive and he's giving me a delivery fee. Obviously I'm taking a HUGE hit based on what it cost me originally, but I don't have the space anymore and need the money. Some really cool stuff in the lot, but yeah, shipping it would have been impossible so I'm happy getting what I did and being rid of it. Kind of sad to sell my middle school years for $300 but what can ya do.

people have asked me to ditch the shipping fee and see if they can come pick it up. i always say no. too many weird things can happen imo. the only time i will ever go to pick something up is if it's from a store i know that sells on ebay

I would think its a "huge Craigslist Steal" .....


As a player collector, i know just how much time and effort it would take to track down all thoes cards and oddball items. That would far outweigh the measly $600 for the lot. You just saved someone years of searching, wheeling and dealing for no added price!

However, if you needed the money, you needed the money..

Matfan- I tried moving the lot on these boards a while ago to no avail and I see what most giant player card lots like this get on the 'bay, so I'm satisfied with $300. I didn't expect to sell the McGwire stuff at all as part of this lot, it was a last second offer that I didn't anticipate the guy accepting. Either way, like I said, definitely need the money and can always buy a giant McGwire lot down the road when things get better.

I hope I did not come off as portraying you in a negative light for selling so cheap, I feel it was a fine sale! However, I just cringe at the effort and time put in to gathering a collection like that, only to sell without nary a compensation for such vested time and effort. Nature of the beast I guess...

My gooden collection would probablly only get a few hundred bucks all together, but the countless hours, days, weeks, ect spent finding thoes cards is 100x more valuable to me than the cards themselv's. That, in and of it'self is why I will never sell them.

No ill-will brotha. I know what you mean, and honestly, I probably paid $3k for everything on the list. But I also did that (a) before the steroid stuff, (b) before the proliferation of ebay, and (c) at worst possible time to buy, during and after he broke the record. I was 13 and obsessed with his power and would buy the 91 Topps-type singles for $2 apiece at card shops routinely. I held onto my rookie stuff which is what I like the most, but yeah, the money and the space is paramount at this point.

As for Doc, I spent an afternoon with him a few years ago... great guy. Days after that, he was arrested for DUI in Tampa. Sad story, hope he can keep it together from here on out.
