SEATTLE (AP) -- The Seattle Mariners have started to address one concern before to spring training by signing catcher Ronny Paulino to a minor league deal with an invite to the major league camp.
The Mariners announced the deal Friday. Paulino is the 19th invite to major league spring training on top of the 40-man roster.


If catcher is a concern... and they now have Morales as a DH.... what does that mean for former super prospect Jesus Montero? How does he go from a great Yankees prospect to a concern in his first season with the Mariners?

Zdurienzick has already said that Montero is their primary catcher and they were only looking to sign someone as a defensive replacement/guy to give Montero the occasional day off. Since they really don't have a shot at winning the division, they are trying to see if Montero has any future as a MLB catcher.
