Will be a good thread. Dave, is your idea to keep all updates at the top? Just thinking it may be easier for people to follow if someone regularly updates one of the first posts.

the Nashville Predators have elected to go to salary arbitration with Shea Weber.

the New Jersey Devils have elected to go to salary arbitration with Zach Parise.

both teams have said they are still negotiating with the respective players. NHL rules state that when a team elects to take a player to arbitration no other team can make an offer to said player during the arbitration process.

Nice to see NYI resign Gillies. Haley is also supposed to be resigned, but Konopka is walking. I'm sure Konopka is going to get some decent $$$ offers from a few teams. Would love to see Bruins get him, but they have a lot of toughness. Teams like Vancouver, Washington, Montreal, Buffalo, NJ, Chicago, Colorado, SJ ect should all be knocking on his door as soon as they can.

Sure Bucco knows, put have heard Godard is done in Pittsburgh. No surprise. Calgary should be calling. Would be nice to see Big Mac-Godard rivalry again in Battle Of Alberta.

I expect Bruins to NOT resign either Ryder or Kaberle.

I certainly could be wrong but I believe Godard is done here in Pittsburgh. he was a great team player and stood up for his teammates when they needed him (just ask Brent Johnson). Godard also had a tremendous presence in the community. he was always doing something for local charities and he will be missed off the ice as much as on it.

The Flames and Tanguay might be parting ways....after such a successful season and chemistry with Iggy.

Oilers need to get Konopka. They need a gritty guy who can go with anyone can be better than 30% on faceoffs, and center a 4th line better than Fraser.

Chiarelli's said they don't expect to be too big of players in the FA Market, since they really only have a couple UFA's (Ryder, Kaberle, Recchi, and I think there was one more). I'd be shocked if they resign Ryder...Kaberle though, I don't know. I know he didn't perform the way he was expected, but considering what they gave up, I wouldn't be too surprised if they did resign him, but with Kampfer coming back healthy, there may not be the need for Kaberle...

As for Konopka, no, last thing they need is another tough guy. There'd be nowhere for him to play unless they get rid of Paille, but even then, a line of Konopka/Campbell/Thornton??? No.

WOOT :D

Are they ever going to give Irving a shot??? If not, trade him already!

With this signing of Karlsson it looks like Irving will be in the minors for another 2 years..... at least :([/quote:1qhsv1gz]

They need to trade him just let him back-up somewhere. I don't even care if it's Montreal...well, maybe I would care if it was Montreal. :)
