Outfielders Mike Trout of the Los Angeles Angels and Bryce Harper of the Washington Nationals were named American League and National League rookies of the month, Major League Baseball announced Sunday. Trout batted .324 with five homers, 16 RBIs and eight stolen bases in May, when he had 11 multi-hit games. Overall, he is hitting .315 with five homers and 19 RBIs after being called up in late April. His honor was the first for the Angels since Robb Quinlan won in July 2004. Harper hit .271 in May with four home runs and 10 RBIs. Overall, he is hitting .282 with five homers and 12 RBIs since he was promoted in late April. The award was the first rookie honor in Washington since Ryan Church won in May 2005.
