I am very interested in this subset from a sale prespective.
In my estimation, most of these are going into Player Collections where they will stay.
I highly doubt some will be purchased with the hopes of a profitable flip but I could be wrong.

I've heard from multiple sources about a Mantle sold on BO and also from one or two about a DiMaggio. However I have no idea as to prices and I'm not certain the DiMaggio was sold but pretty sure the Mantle was. Just don't know figures

Has anyone dared to ask the question if these are really from game used bats? Didn't someone look up the PSA sticker on the Arod bat and it said that
it was a game model bat and not a game used bat?

I suspect some are questionable, but most collectors seem to think these cards are too awesome to pass up. They're nice cards no doubt, but I wish MLB had a good third party authenticator that they can heavily rely on kind of like MeiGray for hockey. I assume PSA is a big one for MLB, but how many game used bats are truly game models never used.

As long as they look cool and it has a Topps logo on it people won't care. The Clemente at least is a model he used in a game.

Great thread... As for the ARod, you can look it up on PSA/DNA... it shows the bat... doesn't look "game used" but a model he used; which is NOT what the back of the card claims which is "embedded in this premium card is the knob of a bat used in a game by..." This is much different that the typical "this is not used in any particular game, year, blah blah blah

If I was to consider buying a bat knob card for that amount of money, I think I'd just buy a whole GU bat for less.

MLB authentication is superior to any 3rd party authenticator.
