A buddy of mine knows Frank Borghi and got me this baseball. Frank Borghi was the goalie for the US in the 1950 World Cup 1-0 upset of England. Frank was also a medic during WW2 and actually treated an injured Jack Buck. He inscribed the ball "Jack Buck medic" as well.
(From Wikipedia) On the morning of March 15, 1945, Buck was the squad leader of a patrol that came under German fire in the Regamen zone.[SUP][13][/SUP] Wounded in his left forearm and leg by shrapnel, Buck received medical treatment on the battlefield from the only medic K company had at that time, Frank Borghi.
