MLB network says back to back has never happened. Two in an inning happened in '98.

Yeah I never remember it happening so I figured it was a good shot, never knew he even gave up 2 in an inning. I didn't hear many boos when he came off compared to when other pitchers leave the mound lately LOL

LOL, Yankees fans are in bad need of a reality check. The Yankees just aren't that good. They're essentially playing for 3rd behind the Sox & Rays.

They have also been devastated by injuries so far this season. I wouldn't make the assumption their playing for third quite yet. But yes, their bullpen is in dire need of a reality check, they need to get something working or put Joba back in the pen, because if they don't they will not do well this season.

I was at this game as well last night. The reason why you didn't hear any booing when he came off was because more than half of the stadium was empty by the time the second homer was hit. Most of the people in my section left after the first home run. I'd have to say, I've never seen Yankee Stadium so empty. There were entire sections that were maybe 10% full. It was pretty sweet to hear the Yankee fans complaining about their team.

Has this ever happened before?

Back to back jacks of Crawford and Longo

He gave up solo home runs to Luis Sojo and Ken Griffey Jr in the 3rd inning of this game (back when he was a starter): http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes ... 9050.shtml

He game up solo home runs to Mike Stanley and Ed Sprague in the 9th inning of this game: http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes ... 7180.shtml

He also gave up 2 HRs in this game: http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes ... 6060.shtml

In this last game, he was a starter and the HRs were hit in different innings. Geronimo Berroa hit a grand slam in the 3rd inning, and Ruben Sierra hit a 2-run shot in the 5th.

He had never given up back to back HRs in an inning before last night. Those are they only 4 games in which he has given up more than one HR.

And in case you are wondering, these are the only players to hit a grand slam off him:
Geronimo Berroa 1995
Bobby Bonilla 1995
Bill Selby 2002 (walk off shot to end the game: http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes ... 7140.shtml)
