Yes you do, otherwise these people you are asking are paying for your request out of their pocket. And you may have better luck in the ttm forum.

Yeah an SAE won't be helpful, it's kind of a slap in the face to the player if you ask for an autograph and then expect them to pay to ship it back to you. It was quite admirable of Doerr to pay for the return postage for you; yeah it's only $0.44 or whatever postage is now, but it adds up if you consider the volume of mail he must get (and I know it's a lot). When in doubt, I always add extra postage.

As far as finding out who signs, I recommend this site: http://www.sportscollectors.net/default.aspx

They have a wealth of information for TTM requests.

I also saw a while back that Sports Card Forum has started a TTM database, so that might also be helpful: http://www.sportscardforum.com/ttm.php

ALWAYS use forever stamps if possible. You don't want to get "postage due" when an item comes back 2 years from now!
