It was a no-brainer to keep him on the shelf for the season...considering it's over for the Mets. The problem of course is where he is by Spring Training...or All-Star break and where the Mets are by the time he is 100%. He's an expensive guy to be sitting in the DL.

I thought Jerry Manuel said he wouldn't need surgery? I'm not buying it at all, I can't think of one example when he's ever been wrong....

Sorry, I tried my best not to kick the Mets while they're down. It's seriously not funny anymore the amount of bad luck they've had.

Can they just forfeit the rest of the season? Whats the point of playing?

Well if the Mets somehow can lose more than the Nationals than they will get the #1 Draft pick so we can profit selling cards

Nationals would pick Harper anyways....they cant afford him after paying Strasburg so much money.

Why do people keep mentioning the Mets dropping to the bottom of the standings? It would be next to impossible. They have a 13 game lead on the Nationals with less than 40 games remaining.

To put it in perspective, the Nationals are on pace to win 57 games. If the Mets were to lose their remaining 37 games, they'd finish with 57 wins. Ain't gonna happen, folks. Realistically, they'll finish in or around the same place they are now.

Since Omar generally likes sticking to slot, I hope he'll pony up enough to land their first draft choice, whoever it may be.

If the season ended today, they'd get the 10th overall pick.

You give the Mets too much credit. They can blow a lead like no one else, no matter the situation or deficit.

However, I completely agree with you. It just ain't gonna happen.

O.Perez feeling pain again heading to see specialist. Mets don't have another starter. God Sept 1 the Mets have no prospect to call up. How about signing Howard Johnson to pinch hit for old time sake?
