Yeah, I don't think the seller made a mistake. This is what he writes in the fine print:

"Deposit of $500 is due within 24 hours upon auction ending. Full payment is due within 7 days upon auction ending.
Deposit may be paid through Paypal. Remaining balance shall be paid through bank wire, or cash (in person). If you wish to pay through PayPal for the whole purchase, you could do so, but please contact us before for approval."

Sad, just sad.

Can't the auction be pulled because he's asking for a bank wire or cash in person?
