If Morales isn't ready to go, which is a distinct possibility, manager Ron Gardenhire expressed interest in Ramos serving as Joe Mauer's understudy. The 22-year-old completed Double-A this past season, hitting .317/.341/.454 and was ranked the team's second-best prospect by Baseball America.
