How can anybody rely on grading card companies when they will grade obvious fakes as authentic. This is even worse than the 05 DLP patches the guy in the youtube video had. This card is obviously not numbered and the auto is horrendous.
I think it is humorous that the seller is dumb enough to post a pic of the back.

BGS slabs backdoored/unreleased as well as SGC.

But I think they should put some notation about the serial # on the flip.

I have had BGS grade an unnumbered EX Essential Credentials card in the past. The flip did state MISSING SERIAL NUMBER.

They don't slab fake autographs, which this one clearly is. They've stopped grading Rookie Premiere, McDonald's, etc. to avoid slabbing bad autos.

The guy knows what he is doing....look how he phrased his description.

#BC238 OF 500 MADE

Made it look like it was 238 out of 500...ridiculous. Had it actually been part of the 500 made, it would have been serial numbered, not "#BC238".

I sent him this... he replied that is was a replacement direct from Topps, which is a blatant lie but I didn't feel like arguing it any further.

Just so you know... If that card was submitted to BGS, they
would send it back ungraded because the Graders there actually
pay attention to what goes on in the sports card market and
would know that that autograph is VERY VERY FAKE. The real
ones have a serial number and that is just not even close to
Tim's auto. Unnumbered versions were backdoored without
autographs on them from Topps, in the same manner as a lot of
unnumbered 2006 Bowman Chrome/Sterling Gold Refractors
have been backdoored. If you were suckered in by someone
else, I'm sorry, but it isn't right to try to pass off a fake
autograph. Please include this in your description.

I would ask for people to understand the grading system at PSA. All modern cards that "appear" pack pulled are graded for card quality. PSA and others are "assuming" the card and autograph is authentic. Notice the flip, this card went through grading of PSA not authentication of PSA/DNA. The grader is not always aware of the minor situations, ie being backdoored, they are grading 4+ sports worth of cards, they dont look for or care about the serial number.

exactly, unless a statement was released by topps regarding the backdooring of these cards...psa wouldn't have a clue. the card was graded at face value. if it has the cert sticker, i am sure the grader felt no reason to question the auto. especially since numerous bowman chrome autos in the past didn't have serial #s, just announced print runs.

This is their job and specialty. There is no excuse. They should have specialists for each of the 4 sports plus non sports and other minor sports, i.e. soccer, golf, mma, etc. There is no way that card should be slabbed by any reputable company.

Yes you are correct and frustrating when cards of this manner are graded. I also agree with your idea about the number of graders but it is unrealistic. PSA has a wide array of cards every month and the amounts differ. To keep cost low for consumers like us graders need to be able to "Grade the card" regardless of the sport. It is my person opinion that they do a bang up job. If you would like when I call me rep tomorrow I can mention this card.
