OK please don't flame me here, but I have a question. Do you think card manufacturers would react if they saw a public video of someone demonstrating the process of swapping patches in cards? It seems to me it would bother them quite a lot and perhaps motivate them to develop some countermeasure? If the average collector saw a video of someone doing this relatively easily, it might sour them a bit and ultimately lead to more widespread skepticism of nicer patch cards. That can't be good for the card manufacturer, since the integrity of their products are essentially called into question, right? Why buy a sweet patch card from XYZ company if we all know how easy it really is to swap them out? My guess is that the chronic patch fakers aren't geniuses or especially skilled, and it isn't that difficult once you get the hang of it. Somewhat like pack searching. Most of us don't know how to do it, but I bet the average guy could do it easily if shown how.
I recognize that the likely result in the short term might be an increase in patch-faking. However might it be worth the short term pain to solve the problem going forward?
Again, please don't flame me here. Just thinking out loud. I had another offer for a very nice Vizquel patch card over the weekend from a collector and it turns out to be clearly fake. It's discouraging!
