Im kind of getting burnt out on prospects, so my question is

What is the best g/u hof set?

My only stipulation is it has to have most of the big names (ruth, gehrig, mantle, joe d,t.williams, clemente, wagner)
thanks for the help guys.

Several sets from the last 5 years from UD & DLP would fit that bill.

2004,2005, & 2008 Prime Cuts
2005 Absolute Memorabilia
2005 Diamond Kings
2005 Sweet Spot Classic
2005 UD Heroes
2009 UD Ultimate Collection

personal opinion....... 2001 UD Hall of Famers bat set. 40 cards, all the big guys are in it. If you get really crazy you can tack on the 13 jerseys and 11 auto/jerseys in the set. I put together the auto set and my dad did the bat cards. Pretty incredible set.

Agreed. 2001 Legendary Cuts have some great mem. cards in it, especially with the debut series mixed in.

I would go with this set as well. I love 2005 Sweet Spot Classic, but it's missing a lot of the big name guys. 2001 UD Hall of Famers has a lot of great HOF players for good prices, except for the SPs. Great design as well.

go for the Piece of History 500 HR set. Will give some pretty easily affordable ones with lots of ones that cost a lot, including some REAL elusive ones (ruth /50, ruth/aaron/mays out of ??)

A couple of very popular (though somewhat specific) options:

1999 UD A Piece of History 500 Club Bat
2000 UD A Piece of History 3000 Hit Club

I'm partial to the 2007 sweet spot classic but the 2005 is probably a bit better.

Here is the 2007 set without the Ruth bat.

Very nice! I have about a half dozen or so cards from that set. Love it!

I've always liked the 2002 Topps Tribute Milestone Materials set. Lots of GU from HOF's that don't get into many sets.

Paul Waner, Tris Speaker, Eddie Collins, Nap Lajoie along with the big names Ruth, Cobb, Wagner and Gehrig.
