Re: Colvin hits 14th HR. Leads NL Rookies.

If he gets at-bats, sure. I can't figure out why he wasn't getting more ABs this year, he's had great numbers for a while. I'd never predict Strasburg to carry on with his 12:2 K/BB.

Anything can happen, there's a whollotta baseball left. With that said, the Cubs can compete with anyone if they sacrifice enough to the Gods. Piniella's retirement announcement bought them at least 3 or 4 wins.

I still can't believe I passed up his super for 2 bills. I was literally right on the trigger to do it.

Honestly, he should be the front runner, but he isn't and will not win ROY. He doesn't have the name recognition the others have.

It is my opinion that in order to win ROY, you should make the big club right out of spring training and play the entire year in the bigs.

i dont believe you have to be in the bigs from ST. But believe that a callup before say May 1st should be part of it.

I don't think you need to. Some rookies make more of an impact over 4 months than some who play the whole season.

So if mike leake went 11-5 with a 3.50 ERA and strasburg went 14-4 2.50ERA and 180ish strike outs you think leake should be the ROY over strasburg?

If the Reds made the playoffs, absolutely. Strasburg will never reach those numbers this year, as he will soon hit his innings pitched mark that the Nationals have set for him. Again, this was just my opinion.

ok so if braves and giants both make the playoffs (IF), and there lines are like

[Stats projected by ESPN]
Heyward: OF .261 20HR 81RBI 11SB .822OPS (Full year)
Posey: C .353 19HR 75RBI .945 OPS (Not full year)

You'd give it to heyward? And i understand we all have different opinions ;)

Haha, ESPN is crap if that's their projection. Posey has like a 1/20 shot of hitting .353 the rest of the year.

Enter Fangraphs and ZiPS:

.317, 13HR, 52R, 56RBI, 1SB -- Posey (.317/.367/.497)
.264, 17HR, 77R, 73RBI 9SB -- Heyward (.264/.361/.446)

Now that's what I call a somewhat useful projection.

I'd still give it posey because of the higher ops and average (and catcher) but barely. Who knows, heyward might go on one of his tears again.

Strasburg's arm would have to fall off to not win the ROY :D ...I seriously doubt Posey can keep up his current pace through the end of the season. What a great year for rookies though...some great up and coming talent that has been promoted...the most talent of any year I can remember.

Strasburg's arm IS going to fall off. Done so by the club. The club has already said they're shutting him down at 160 innings, so he will not finish the season.

Surprised nobody mentioned the rookie with the most Total Bases in baseball yet. (AND BY A LANDSLIDE)
