Thought this would be a very interesting topic... What is the toughest set you have ever put together (it can be a regular set with all of the short prints & autos or an insert set)? How long did it take to put together?

Im doing the 08 Americana Ring Kings auto/event worn set

It's a fairly easy and cheap auto set to put together but 2 cards in the set are sp/50

Randy Couture and Bas Rutten.

Many Couture's have surfaced but I keep losing them

Only 1 Bas Rutten has surfaced and I was sniped on it.

2005 Ultimate Signature Numbers (80), Decades (90), and Supremacy (90) sets. Missing roughly 10 to complete all three sets. Been working on it since July 2005.

Its not baseball, and I don't have it anymore, but I had a 1998-99 Sp Authentic Basketball SP RC Set /3500 graded Psa 9..Rookies included Vince Carter, Dirk Nowitzki Rashard Lewis, Paul Pierce and many more. Sold it for $2000, Paid $700 for the Vince Carter alone.... Those were the Days.

Now I am working on the 1954 Topps Baseball set Psa 6 or better... because of my budget its going to be much more difficult than any other set.

I'm trying to do the Decades as well, how far are you at this point?

Took 3 or 4 years to complete, mainly because I let a few go by that I thought I had, though it turned out I didn't. Always check your checklists!

2003 Flair Greats Sweet Swatch Classic
I think the bat set is complete, but I'm still missing a couple jerseys and patches. I've been working on it for about 3 years or so. One of the patches I need is George Brett, and one was sold for about $40 during a road trip, so I never had a chance.

The 2008 Donruss Threads Diamond Kings Blue Framed inserts /50
(progress in sig)

I'm down to 7, and I've never even seen 3 of them. But, I took a long break from looking, so I may have missed them.

I've quit a lot of sets before completing them.

The one that is actually close to becoming complete is the 2009-10 exquisite basketball flashback set, still waiting for one more redemption back from UD (that's been the toughest part).

I'm still 1 card away from completing the 2005 Origins Old Judge Gold set. It's 200 cards #/20. I am missing Chris Burke. I'm pretty sure I saw one a few years ago on ebay but was outbid. There's an 86-card "high number" set from the multi-brand rookie update set, but I actually completed that fairly easily. Lots of that product ripped, as opposed to Origins with it's $40 "packs," although singles from that set are popular.

Anyone with a stash of old Astros cards, please look for this friggin' Chris Burke. It's like a nightmare that in 5 years I haven't obtained one. While you're at it, a friend of mine needs some for his set, too.
