Wade Davis signs 7 year deal with Rays

The Tampa Bay Rays and pitcher Wade Davis have agreed to a seven-year deal, worth $35.1 million dollars. The first four years of the contract are guaranteed, with the team holding options for 2015, 2016, and 2017.

Definitely riskier than the Longoria deal but won't cripple them even if he flames out (which is obviously much more likely than with Evan).

This is a great deal. He is a solid young starter. Rays are quite smart when it comes to locking up young talent for a long period of time.

Good deal for the Rays. It's a fair salary even if he only ends up being a league average starter.

This deal makes him much more enticing to potential trade suitors. Great deal for both sides though. Wade gets paid (that just sounds good); and the Rays will be able to get much more for him in a few years because he's tied up so long.
