They are talking about the Mets being very aggressive in the meetings and looking to Move Ike Davis.

If the get Pujols signing at about $27mm per year in a 10 year contract would put the Mets roughly 12 million over the proposed budget range for this year, (unless Alderson was able to back load the deal a bit increasing Pujols salary significantly after Bay and Johan come off the books, thus keeping within this years salary constraints)...

Hmmm

We all would be shocked but imagine if they were able to make the argument that Jose is an injury prone athlete who missed 40% of the games he plays over the past 3 years and couldnt justify paying him 18mm per year, but Albert is a model of consistency that would be worth 8-10mm per year more than Reyes. And to borrow a line from George he would put Fannies in the seats..

From MLBtraderumors:

1:54pm: A high-ranking Mets official told Andy Martino of the New York Daily News reports of them being serious about trading Davis are not true.

As much as it would be fun to think about them landing Pujols and then sending Ike to TB for a pitcher seems like a great idea...but, it's not going to happen...

Why bother? They are years away from being a contender. Why tie up that much money when you are trying to rebuild.I would believe this story if Minaya was still the GM.
