I thought I would start a topic devoted to promos and samples where we could ask questions and show scans without clogging up the oh sweet 90's insert page. I have a large quantity of these cards that I am scanning and I could post scans if someone wanted to see a example of the card. Some of these cards aren't marked and it is sometime difficult to determine if they are legit. All of my promos came direct from the companies so I can assure you they are legit. I had 2 accts. with Major League Marketing (Sportflics, Score, Pinnacle,Summitt and Select), plus a single acct. with Upper Deck and Leaf.
I will start this off by showing a real oddity, since I had 2 accts with SF they sent me 2 different order forms for the 1990 Sf, inside of order form was a Bedrosian promo (missing the 1989 stats) the other had a Joey Belle which has the 1989 stats. My question is does anyone have a regular issues 1990 SF Joey Belle #159 to compare with the one I rec. as a promo. There could be subtle differences such as minor stats errors or TM instead of C, who knows but if you could put up a scan we could compare the back and see if this is a rare promo or just a regular issues sent out in the order info.

Thanks in advance
Paul

Thanks for pointing out this thread, I haven't been on here in awhile and hadn't seen it. I will limit my post to the 90's since I have no expertise after that time frame.

The Belle looks identical to the regular card that I believe I pulled out of a set.

Thanks for taking the time to look.

Next up is a 1990 S 1T Dave Winfield that I received 2 of so I'm not sure how many different players were sent out. Again I don't have a regular issue to compare it to so I'm not sure if there are subtle differences or if this is just a reg. issue sent out with the order form.

Great card! It seems like these were easier to find than the previous two years.

Thanks, how many different players have you seen and do you have any scans to share?

The only difference I see is the cropping in the photo. Yours on the left, the regular issue is on the right. Or yours top, regular on the bottom (depending on how the system arranges them).

Thanks, you have a great eye. I've heard there are usually very small differences but I don't own most of the regular issues to compare.

Wow, that Winfield find is great!

As for the 1992 samples, I don't recall how many different players but I own two Venturas and have come across at least five other copies over the years. Pretty sure I've seen a handful of Griffeys as well.

Great idea for a thread!

i'd love to see any George Brett or Mike Schmidt Promos

It took awhile to check but unless Brett or Schmidt are in the middle of some of the unopen Promo packs that I have, I can't help you out. Anyone have Brett's or Schmidt Promo, fire up the scanner and lets see some.

Hey Paul. Good to see you back on the forums. Thanks a millionth time for the Will Clark 1990 Score Promo, it's very much a cherished part of my collection.

The true rarities (in my opinion) are the 1990 and 1991, I also have seen my fair share of 1992 ones, but not many of the 90 or 91. Oh, and the 1990 Sportsflics are so hard to find, it's hard to find anyone that really knows anything about them.

The Brett 1991 exists, but I don't have a scan. I know there are a couple huge promo collectors on the forum, they might be able to provide a scan. Don't think Schmidt has any, but he might. His biggie is probably the 1990 Aqueous Test or the 1990 Donruss Blue/White Test Issue. The last biggie from the 1991 Score promo set to surface was Puckett.

Hey Nolan,

I've been busy the last 1 1/2 years and haven't been on here much. I decided to have a little fun and scan a few promos. I will post the 1990 Score Will Clark Promo where those who haven't seen one before can take a look. BTW I still haven't found the second promo that score sent me. I think I must have given it to a good customer back in 1990 so I don't even know who the player was.
