That didn't take long. 3 doubles in 13 ABs and they are ready to put him in the slot reserved for the teams best hitter. I have a feeling he's going to be just fine.

Ironically, this is his third home game. He has 3 doubles.

Here come the Day 3 posts.....

I think a 19 year-old playing in MLB and batting third after 13 ABs is pretty newsworthy...at least for the people who frequent these boards. (I don't own a single Harper card so this is simply interesting to me.)

Davey Johnson must think he's his new Daryl Strawberry, keep the coke away from him and Strasburg.

just wait until pitchers have more tape on him and find his weak spots, it will all balance out. i'm not hating on the boy or anything like that, just trying to be realistic. disclaimer: i own nothing of this dude.

Harper is an excellent baller and I think he will have a successful career...But I would sell his cards if I owned any...

Agree 100%. If people don't know to sell now they never will. The number of guys who's cards have increased after debuting while being the #1 hyped prospect are pretty much zero.

Just listed what little bit I had. no autos just base and a couple parallels. Besides being a profitable opportunity watching him is really fun.

I will admit, up until today I haven't seen him play a single game, or even one at-bat, but I absolutely love the way he plays the game. If I had any extra money I would definitely pick up a BC.

I may be in the minority, but I don't think his stuff has reached its potential yet. His Bowman Chrome Auto was what in ST? $365? If he continues to hit, and Washington continues to win, $400 mark for base autos will not be out of the question.

What I'm about to say has nothing to do with his ability. That said, there might be a short term increase still out there, but a sustainable $400 base auto isn't likely. Just purely based on the number of cards printed, there's no way. Say he turns out Pujols great, even at the top of the Pujols chrome auto mania (assuming there were more than 500 made), it wouldn't have been able to get to $400 and sustain it.

The only way I can maybe see it happening is if the lower price point gets more people on board vs. a card like the Pujols auto where there were only 500 to go around, and the price got out of people's budgets quickly.

It will be interesting to see where the supply and demand meet in this case. I might have to eat crow, but I doubt it based on history of other past stars cards.
