In no way did I brush it aside as no big deal. I think Hamilton has done a great job turning his life around, he may be the best left handed hitter in the AL. All I am saying is I have a tough time putting a guy like that who is all about the lavish superstar lifestyle in with one of the greatest athletes at his position in any sport who is also incredibly humble.

I'm not going to get into the comparing of the two because that's fruitless and they are two different situations. However, Hamilton has an addiction problem. Anybody who understands anything about addiction knows it's not something that just goes away and it's certainly not something that people should just brush aside as no big deal.

In regards to Rivera, I feel awful for him. Echoing the sentiments of many on here, he is a class act and one of those Yankees I've never had anything but the utmost respect for. Here's wishing him well in his recovery.

While I do "despise" the Yankees, I actually feel bad for Mo. I don't find it delightful that anyone ends up with any kind of major injury in sports.

Hey, if Jamie Moyer made it back after surgery at his age, there's a good chance for Mo's return. ;)

With all due respect to Jamie Moyer's impressive career and love of the game that has allowed him to play this long, I don't think Mo comes back in the capacity Jamie did. If Mo doesn't believe he can be at his best, I don't see him returning.

Today: Rivera - "I am coming back. Write it down in big letters. I'm not going out like this."

Wow, I haven't saw this anywhere, did he actually say that? Yesterday I saw that he said he doesn't know if he'll ever pitch again.

Per Mo's Twitter -
"Thank you fans, friends and family for your prayers, well wishes and support. I will be ok. I will be back."

As mentioned before
"I'm coming back. Write it down in big letters. I'm not going out like this." - Mariano Rivera to reporters today. He retweeted that from the Yankees Official Twitter account.

I must say that everything I've seen, read, and heard about Josh, your description here does not depict the type of person he is at all.
I have seen and view him as a very humble, charitable, Christian man who has a lifelong battle on his hands.

He is the founder of Triple Play Ministries which focuses on 3 main issues:

  1. Sports Ministry Program sees Hamilton and Triple Play Ministries host baseball camps for children.
  2. Community Outreach Programs allows Josh and his wife Katie to share their stories and Josh’s triumphant return to baseball.
  3. Mission Projects is a program that aligns Triple Play Ministries with a variety of other charitable organizations assisting needy individuals worldwide.

I simply don't see any "lavish superstar lifestyle" at all.

An interesting fact about Hamilton, he will not sign in-person on Sunday's. I believe that is in observation of his religion.

Thanks to the Mo injury, I picked up Robertson on my fantasy team and shipped Kimbrel/Hanley for Miguel Cabrera to a team that lost Mo.

Like I said, kudos to Hamilton for transforming his life. I certainly think he's done a 180 from the person he was before. I guess I didn't mean to say superstar lavish lifestyle, but more of just a go-all-out party lifestyle. Remember those pics shirtless at the bar with women around him from 2009? I believe that is the person he was BEFORE, even though he was not a superstar. I am a big Hamilton fan and I have a ton of faith in him, but I just have less sympathy than the average person for drug addicts who self-inflict injury on themselves and most importantly those who love them most. That's all I meant to say

i hope he comes back for 1 more year. thats the last
way someone of his class and calibur deserves to go out.

i HATE the yankees but i do love Jeter and Mo.
He is one if the best and classiest men that has
ever walked the diamond. For him to still answer my autograph
request at his height of fame like he did last year
speaks volumes. its only a auto but it goes a long way.
If their is a silver lining in this maybe it will give him time
to make a public signing so i can finish my dual pic of him
and jeter.

If this is the end, Thanks for providing epic baseball Mo.
