I would love to see him have a good year
.310-23-88-.495
Wasington win the east and the Phills OUT
His cards will TANK!
The point is i do not care what he does. His cards are way over priced. For his cards to be that high he would have to have stats like this
.422-79-198-1.015
Win the triple crown,MVP,Rookie of the year,WS MVP. Records for HR's and RBI in a season.
Then i could see his cards bringing in the money they are. Not going to happen.

It's hard to extrapolate anything from Harper's minor league career because he's had less than 500 ABs.

Matt, what % of your consignments are prospects? I have seen that you have had a TON of prospects for sale through the years. It seems that you are mocking and berating the same exact people that provide your living. It might be time to think twice about the way you speak of your customers. Just my opinion.

Well said Matt. It's not wise to mock those who help you make a living...

Its easy when you're a detractor and looking for a reason to back up the idea he will be a bust.

Rooting for him to fail seems like alot of wasted energy...

Half his detractors are actually closet fans.

We are a nation of liars.

For me, I want the kid to succeed. That's just good for baseball. Something that gets more people interested in the game and collecting, even if just casually, is a plus.

I think some people just need to lay off of the comparisons to all-time greats. Lets give the kid a few seasons and see what he does.

Nowhere did I ever state or imply that was his ceiling. I am well aware that he was only 18 and the average pitcher was 24 and his stats at AA were pretty much those of the average hitter (also age 24), and blah blah blah. I was simply responding to the assertion that Harper "crushed others" in the minors last year. If you agree and think that Corey Hart "crushed others" in 2007, that's fine with me. But since it just seems like you're trying to start internets wars, you'll have to find someone else to battle.

Internet wars?? wtf??

Not everyone who buys a trading card is an investor. When COLLECTORS lose money, they could stop collecting and spending into the system. I don't see how that could ever be a good thing for sellers. The less money there is in the hobby, the less everyone will be able to make. This isn't Wall Street. People buy things to keep, and if what they are buying loses value, that's not a positive. You don't ever want buyers out of the market.

The thing I think is being brought up by uniquebaseballcards is that these buyers will most likely lose money, and Boomo knows it. As do the rest of you. Bryce Harper could be the second coming of Christ and the prices will still drop. Which is going to cause the exact thing you just described to happen. Which is also what happened, to a degree, in the era of mass production(80's and 90's). People get on a bandwagon quite stupidly, and then lose out, and then they get pissed off and refuse to join whatever bandwagon again. Which pretty much burns that bridge. You have to moderate whatever you want to get involved in. You shouldn't ever just decide you like something and go bat s--- crazy. If I decide I like Volvo's tomorrow, I'm not going to go buy 6 of them without considering the consequences. Things like this are the exact reason I don't even like telling people I collect. Because then they want to tell me about all their worthless cards and then get really pissed off when they find out they are still worthless and they tell me "This is the exact reason I've never purchased another sports card in my life".

I don't think Boomo really cares whether any player really fails or not. He's probably just tired of the stupidity. Can you blame him?

I don't think you read what he said. It's pretty clear.

Apparently he is also nothing like Neo and is incapable of avoiding flying shards of baseball bats...
