yeah cabrera prince and jackson have been doing great, i still think boesch will turn it around but i would like to see berry in place of delmon....also putkonen is terrible, i think the tigers relief will be alright in the long run with coke, dotel, benoit and valverde...also i keep hearing about how this tigers prospect (nick castellanos) is tearing up the minors but he plays third, he has to be able to play second base right? i just want to see anybody in there other than raburn.

and by the way i have always been a suporter of leyland and still am, but im starting to lean the other way as i tuned in to todays game...raburn batting 2nd..really?? hes the worst hitter in baseball and you switch him with one of the hottest hitters in baseball (dirks) because theres a left handed pitcher...who cares

Thanks for updating this thread. I forgot about it. The bottom half of the order has been a tremendous disappointment. And the relief pitching has not been good. Putkonen? He's the answer???

Props to Cabrera for his two run homer in the 9th yesterday. Another loss with 9+ runners LOB would have been too much to handle.

Leyland over-thinks the game way too much. Dirks is hitting about 250 points better than Raburn and you switch him out because of the handedness of the opposing pitcher? You really think getting Raburn more at-bats against a lefty will make up the 250 point difference? Give me a break, Jim. Stop playing favorites and start putting the best players out there so we can win some games.

Castellanos is too tall and will be too big to play second base. Besides, as bad as Fielder's defense has been, Castellanos will be at third base when he is ready, Cabrera will go back to first base and Fielder will be an everyday DH. Fielder's defense this year has been atrocious. He misplayed a ball hit down the line today because he didn't get in front of it when he had plenty of time to do so.

And I agree with the rest of you. Why does it seem like Leyland (and the rest of the front office?) is the last person to see that certain guys on the team can't produce. First it was Inge. Now it is Raburn. It's not like the Tigers don't have good alternatives for second base right now with Santiago and Worth available. Raburn shouldn't see the lineup until he proves to the staff that he has fundamentally changed whatever it is that is causing his bad plate appearances.

I'm ready to fire the entire coaching staff simply because no one on the team can lay down a bunt. Every single guy either pops up his bunt or completely whiffs on the pitch and puts themself in a bad hitter's count. This is a complete lack of focus and is a reflection of the coaching staff.

One last thing, how about the umpire crew screwing up that foul tip third strike that would have been the last out of the second inning? It extended the inning and the Red Sox scored three runs after that. They also called Worth out at second base when the replays showed he got back in time. The Tigers have been on the bad end of a lot of bad calls by the umpires lately.

i thought i was the only one that seen fielder as one of the worst fielding first basemen in the league, if he would accept a dh role moving miggy to first and castellanos to third it would help the team out a ton...also if the team loses than so be it, but when you continue to start the worst player in baseball hitting and fielding (raburn) it makes me not even want to watch anymore

Castellanos isn't really a Major League option right now. He will be very good in the future IMO, but he's only in High-A ball right now. He's hitting over .400 though, so it's odd that he hasn't seen a promotion to Double-A yet.

At some point, enough has to be enough and Raburn needs to be sent down. We're just under a quarter of the way through the season and the guy is batting .146. How long is he going to get to turn it around before he stops taking at-bats from guys who will produce at a much higher rate than that? This is supposed to be a championship team, not extended spring training.
