If you are going to sell something, why would you not know what you want for it? And knowing what you want for it should in some way be predicated on what it's worth.

If you want to sell something and you don't have the want or energy to do some due diligence around what it might be worth, etc., then I don't feel sorry for you if someone gets it for a "steal". If you simply don't have the time or resources to do the due diligence, then maybe you shouldn't be selling whatever it is your want to sell in the first place. This is just my take...

Well, given millions of cards have been produced over the last five-ten years, its not tough to see why its an issue.

Also, there are tons of people who sell to supplement their income and aren't professional sellers - even though they may THINK they are 'professional', LOL.

well, mainly its unfair when someone gets a steal cuz they ripped the seller off. i hate the argument the seller should have known its not fair to him!

Not fair? I really hope you are doing your troll thing, cause if not once again you proved how stupid you are. So in miggys world the buyers will do the sellers research for them.

You sure you are not Karl Pilkington?

This isn't fair either. Do you think you'd be able to find information on every card produced over the last fifteen or so years?

Let me put it this way, if I was going to sell something, and I cared about getting close to fair market value, I'd do my research. I mean....I got a guy I can take practically anything to and he'll let me know what they are worth, offer his price, or tell me to put it on ebay if I want more. But I don't use him much except on non-sport items. It is really on the seller. How the hell are you gonna act like it's not your responsibility? Just like it's a buyer's responsibility to make sure he doesn't overpay. Sorry...doesn't fly in my world....

Its just not enough to say lack of seller responsibility leads to all steals.

Sometimes (often?) the market changes, people don't know what they have or are wrong identifying their card despite their best efforts. I'd also add that not every seller (gasp) cares what CMV is. All of these are legitimate reasons why there are steals to be had, whether or not a potential buyer informs the seller of his gaffe is up to the buyer.
