I'm slowly turning into an A's fan this year and have been really impressed with guys like Cespedes and Reddick, but now Chris Carter is crushing the ball and they have a very powerful middle of the order. He has like 8 hr in 60 at bats or something ridiculous like that. I used to buy his 2008 auto rc for a few bucks each hoping he'd turn into something down the road. Last year he looked terrible, but it looks like he's made some adjustments, has a very compact stride and swing, and is really heating up. Hoping it lasts and the A's keep up the good work.

Agreed, I'm really liking reddicks all around play

Yeah Reddicks defense is amazing. Maybe the best right fielder in the league. What's is more amazing is that the As will have this core of players for several more years.

Still amazed at how much Power they've shown. At the start of the year, I was worried about their Offense being worse than Seattle's...

I think I bought and sold Chris Carters in three separate periods if I remember right. He's been a strange prospect. What I consider a Lorenzo Cain-type. One that has a bunch of extreme highs and lows as far as buy-sell points.

I have a Gold Refractor Rookie Card of Chris Carter! Unfortunately, it was of the other 1B prospect named Chris Carter, who played in the Red Sox organization. Anyone know what happened to him? Or am I confused and this is the same guy?

I dont think the other Chris Carter had a Gold Ref Rookie, unless you mean his MLB RC. The other Chris Carter of the Red Sox was in 2004 Draft and only Elite i think. He wasnt in the Bowman checklist. At that time he was a Diamondback prospect.

I don't have it in front of me at the moment, but I know it is a 2008... I think it was from Draft.

Wow. The same could not be said when he was on the Sox. Dang.

Ok so I lied. Ichiro is the best RF in the league, but reddick is #2 according to fangraphs, and he is also one of the top 5 defenders in the league according to fangraphs. I don't know why he has such a hard time in Boston, but I think it had something to do with the way the sox treated him.

Jose Bautista

It appears that is very debatable. According to fangraphs.com, Reddick has the highest WAR of any RFer in all of MLB. Here's the short list

Josh Reddick 4.3
Jason Heyward 4.0
Mark Trumbo 3.3
Giancarlo Stanton 3.3
Jose Bautista 3.3
Ben Zobirst 3.2

Reddick has 20 more total hits than Bautista, a higher slugging percentage, a higher batting average, more steals, equal wRC+, roughly equal WOBA/wRC/OPS/wRAA.

So really, no matter what metric you use offensively, Reddick and Bautista are not that far apart. In fact, you could argue they are pretty much equal offensively. However, it seems that when it comes to defense and baserunning, Reddick is far and above the better player. Fangraphs has Reddick's dollar value at $19.3 and Bautista at $14.7.

Soooo.....if you go by fangraphs or any other advanced metrics system, it looks like Reddick is about 33% more valuable than Bautista this year.

P.S. As a side note, I realize Bautista is having a down year, and were he to produce at his previous 2 years pace, he would be crushing Reddick. But for the 2012 season, Reddick is the hands down winner. Also, IMHO I think Bautista will flame out about as fast as he broke out in the first place. Just my opinion.

I'm sure Toronto will get right on that trade.
