This looks like a great move by the Giants. Nate is unhappy not playing everyday, even though every time the Giants give a chance to be an everyday OF he falls flat. Joseph looks like a great prospect but the Giants are WAY overloaded with good to great catchers in the organization. My concern is that the reports are a 3 for 1 deal and the third player is rumored to be a pitcher. On another note, I hate the Dodgers and all of their team bettering moves........curse you the Yankees of the West ;)

Pence has been one of the more consistent OF'ers over the past few years with HR total, average and speed.

Great pickup by the Giants for relatively nothing

The Giants had to give up one of their top prospects for him in Tommy Joseph, so I wouldn't say nothing

I said "relatively nothing"

A prospect who will probably never pan out was worth the risk here, for sure.

I really don't get this trade from the Phillies' perspective.

Although they got ALOT less for his one year than they paid Houston for him, this was still a good deal for Philly. Pence was not performing anywhere near where they needed him too. His "goofy" style and terrible defense was really tough to watch and they didn't feel he was worth the $12-15 million he'll probably get in Arbitration next year.

Good deal IMO (as well as the Victorino deal).

And trust me, Giants fans: Although his bat may come around, watching him play the ball in the Outfield will make you wanna poke your eyes out with a fork. Ugh. Just hard to watch...

Love this trade. The fact we don't lose Gary Brown and have Pence for next year makes this a solid trade! About time we got an outfielder with power
