How exactly is Hendricks a throw in? His #s in High A are nasty. 2.82 era, 115/12 Strikeout to Walk ratio.

Ok, maybe that was a bit harsh. But he's slightly old for High-A, and his FB is in the 80's.

So this return is no where near what we originally had from Atl though right?

I watched Hendricks pitch in person last year and he did nothing but impress. High IQ and great pitchability. Low floor/high ceiling type of arm. He did hit mid-90's on radar gun on occasion.

Good trade for both teams. Texas with plenty of depth at 3B/P.

Hendricks doesn't sound bad to me. Dude is 165 pounds, get him to 185-190 and hopefully he can tack on another 2-3 mph to his heater.

Hendricks has had a fine season with Myrtle Beach, as detailed in a recent BA Prospects Blog post. He throws an upper-80s two-seam fastball, a four-seamer that bumps 92 mph and mid-80s cutter to go with a curveball, slider and changeup. None of the pitches grades as plus, but he has feel for his craft and for the strike zone. He ranked second in the Carolina League in ERA, WHIP and innings as well as third in strikeouts, while leading the league in walk ratio (1.0 per nine innings). At a listed 6-foot-2, 165 pounds, he has room to get bigger and stronger.
